Project 1

For our first project we had to use analog technology of some sort and create an instillation art piece.
Here are some pieces my classmates created.

Train Piece

This set up was very well thought out given the motion and direction of the train. All the videos were going in the same direction making one big loop or circle. In order to fully appreciate the piece, the viewer must walk around full circle to get the full effect. I like how all the videos are the same initial video but manipulated differently. What really pulled it all together was the music.

Disney Piece

The Disney Piece above was interesting because the layout of the televisions was sporadic as was the loop of Disney movies chosen. Each television played a different movie or point in time of the video loop making the piece fun to look at because the focus of the viewer was constantly changing, with the hopes of not having missed anything.

Disney Piece

The second Disney piece was well though out and allowed room for change. Originally the set up was four tv's separated by a large space but then eventually they were all pushed together making the experience even better. I like how the distortion was created for the different loops and how, at points during the installation, 3 of the 4 televisions would be playing the same part of the video.

Mountain Piece

The best part about this specific piece would be the extremely different distortions seen in each video.
I believe this was an extremely crafty and technical piece that really embodied the meaning of instillation art.
